Kuching wastewater management system: 1st phase - HSL (RM452 million)
High-profile projects planned under SCORE include
- the Salco aluminium smelter (RM7 billion to RM10 billion), (Target complete 2010/2011)
- Expected spillover projects from the smelter include a deepwater port in Samalaju to facilitate the import of alumina from Queensland. There are also plans for a rail link between Tanjung Manis and Samalaju by end-2015.
- Tatau pulp and paper factory (RM3 billion)
- a zinc electro refinery (RM1.3 billion).
- About 12 dams are scheduled to be built by 2020. (Early planning stages)
- An energy transmission grid of more than 1,700km was proposed to facilitate this power transfer. Of the total length, 735km in Sarawak (RM2 billion), 676km undersea across the South China Sea (RM6 billion) and 303km at the peninsula (RM1 billion). Starts off with tender for undersea portion in 2010, followed by Sarawak, then peninsular).
Other construction-related projects that may kick off in the near future were
- the Sibu Airport extension (RM150 million),
- Miri Port dredging works (RM120 million),
- a maritime naval base (RM300 million to RM400 million)
- the Tanjung Manis halal hub.
The state government has said that the Kuching flood mitigation project is slated for completion by the end of the 10th Malaysia Plan (end-2015). Naim Holdings Bhd has a letter of intent (LOI) for the flood mitigation job worth RM1.3 billion and it has been awarded Phase 1 (RM149 million). |

The initial phase of development would be on basic infrastructure (roads, bridges and land reclamation works)
Its mega projects will only start within the next 2 to 3 years. |
